Hey guys, I cant find the solution to this on google. use a new linksys E4200 router that has my USB drive with my DVD backups on it I would like to stream to my Laptop with Firefox 4.0 installed.

My problem is when I click the file link in the http://192.168.1.1:9000/disk/DLNA-PNAVI-OP01-FLAGS01700000/O0$3$28I13580.avi address it open the Download prompt and my options are do use Windows media player or to Download the file.

But the problem when I click use media player it just starts downloading the whole file and does not open media player to stream :-(

You need the media player plugin for Firefox. MS used to publish one, but I don't know if they do any more.

Yeah I installed that file. Its from 2007 though. Maybe its not compatible with FF 4.0.1

edit: heck I will just load up IE when I need to use the media server. No biggie. Its not worth the stress 🙂

Try going to Windows Media Player and going to File>Open URL. Paste that URL in and it should buffer and stream it.
