Cliffs: Bunch of people get hurt near elementary school when a firework shell exploded in the crowd during the grand finale.

Actually, third degree burns don't hurt because all the nerve endings in the skin are destroyed. Pain is one of the ways to distinguish between 2nd and 3rd degree burns.

There was a lady here in the Detroit area killed by fireworks this year, when a commercial grade firework blew up in her face.

Detroit News Article

I wonder if DeathBUA was working that night... I don't see it in the article, but I thought I heard on the news that they took her to Detroit Receiving.

Ouch ... that's why I watched the fireworks from a safe distance. I went to the top of a parking garage in Austin and had a nice view of multiple shows.

She had bent over to see why the first firework didn't launch. Moments later, it did. The explosive meant to propel 200 to 300 feet into the air struck her head, and a crowd of 30 -- including her three sons and fiance -- could do nothing as the rest of the show cascaded above.

Sorry, but I can't really pity people that do stupid things like this with fireworks. It's like looking down the barrel of a gun after pulling the trigger.

That was pretty God awful.

When we lived in Utah about 25 years ago, a shell went off very low, and one of the embers came down and landed in the face of an infant...about 20 feet from where we were sitting. Burned the child pretty badly...
