K...so an Associates been telling me how great his FIREWIRE 800 is on the Mac so sneaking me brings along a Porta PC (locked and loaded 😉) and talks him into comparing marks or even seeing if it'll work on WinXP. Put in the card and hooked up the X Case went in as sure as Springs Breeze a coming, no drivers necessary and Here's what happened with a JB120Gigger. This is compared agst Firewire and also I have some Hi Speed USB Benches.

Is the ATTO bench using FW800?

If so, your HDD is holding you back perhaps. Change the test size so it fits in the disk's buffer.

I regularly see reads >40 and writes >35 with FW400 using Oxford 911 controllers and cheap Ti controllers.

Cheers!

great 🙂

now all we hafta do is wait for Firewire 2 ports and drives to take off like USB2 has

<-- waiting impaciently

It doesn't look like you have a very good Firewire 400 chipset. If you're concerned about performance, then Oxford 911 is recommended for Firewire 400. But yeah, Firewire 800 is fast.

Firewire 800 > Firewire 400 Oxford 911 > USB 2.0
