I just bought my new case, but in my euphoria i forgot to check for a firewire port. There is space to add a firewire port up front, but I have no clue as to what I need. Please post a link as to what i need to buy.

if the port is available at the front of the case, then you need a fire-wire "wire" that connects to the fire-wire pins on your motherboard, then attach the other end to the already existant port on the front of your case.

or

install a PCI firewire card which has 4 ports that are accible on the back of the machine AND 1 additional firewire port that can only be accessed from the inside of the box. You will then need to connect a fire-wire "wire" to that internal port on the pci card and run it to the front port on the front of your case.

of course search for best price before purchasing.

i hope this helps.

Thanks alot for the advice. I have one more question however. My motherboard is anASUS P4C800-E DELUXE and comes with an onboard 1394. Does this still mean that I need firewire card, or just a cable that goes to the front of my case.

Edit: I do not have a port up front.
