Good day

I was trying to transfer a new batch of songs from my PC to my Nomad Zen mp3 player. It has both USB1 and Firewire inputs. I've used the USB before on another computer and its reasonably quick. Today I tried to use the built in Firewire of my Epox nForce2 motherboard and had some problems. For one, it would transfer, but slower than USB1. I re-installed the latest nForce2 drivers, no change. I installed a cheap Firewire card I (Ti chip) allready had, and through that the Firewire connection had the quick transfers you would expect. No problem using the add-in card.

What could be the problem with the onboard Firewire? I don't have any other FW devices to test with. I checked where the firewire headers are on the mobo, and there is no way to "reverse" this connection or mis-seat it or anything like that.
