FireWire PCMCIA card wont work on my laptop!

Bought this firewire pcmcia card from newegg.com here



USB IEEE 1394 2 Port Hi-Speed Card Bus PCMCIA for PC or Mac. The transfer rate are 400Mbit/sec, and very useful for DV, MO, HDD?etc, and some other devices with 1394 interface.

I connected an external firewire casing with a 48x LITEON CD-R... all to my laptop DELL LATITUDE C600

The card wont work.. has a big exclamation mark saying that the device is not availble.... tried again few hours later, the device is recognized but now there is memory conflict everywhere... IM SO MAD

SHould i just get myself a expensive name brand pcmcia card?? like adaptec or soemthing... sigh.. just was trying to save money... help!
