Firewire / IEEE 1394 question?

I just bought a sony digital 8 video camera, and bought Pinnacle Studio DV w/IEEE1394, now I been trying to capture MPEG directly not "AVI"(takes a lot of space)but to no luck at all.....is there any ways to capture Mpeg directly?

No, you need pull the footage off of the camcorder onto your PC in it's native DV format, then encode it to mpeg.
