Firewire/1394 Network connection

Senior member
On my sony laptop, using the sony restore disc it automatically creates a LAN connection in "Networking and Dial Up Connections" (im using win2k), but using the standard win 2k install (not from a restore disk) it doesent crate an adapter.

Ive had the same problem on my main pc running a ASUS P4PE with the onboard firewire.

How do i configure the firewire to use it as a network adapter? Ive been looking for info on it, but i cant seem to find anything.

Thanks

If Windows has the firewire drivers installed properly it should put a firewire LAN connection in your network properties. The Sony CD definitely would have drivers for the firewire port on your laptop. If you did a manual install I'd go to sony's site and try and get drivers for whatever 1394 chip they tossed in there. If Sony doesn't have them I'd hunt down the manufacturer of the chip and get the drivers from their website.
