Firewalls: Can I remove them?

Dear all,

I live on campus and for some odd reason they block me from using p2p programs.. thats a huge bummer.

Is there a way to bypass the firewalls so that I can use P2P programs.

Thanks in Advance.

Sure, if you are a network administrator for your school.

If the port is blocked, then I would look for a "passive" type mode. Or change the port to one that is usable and open.

Yeah... geez... what's not to like about the extra GB's of bandwidth usage? And the potential for legal liability just sweetens the deal.

Take your question elsewhere - questions on circumventing network controls are not welcome here.

just as well say "how can i pirate stuff behind a firewall"

and before you say you arent pirating anything....remember, if it was innocent, you would have asked the admin before asking here

Ask the admin.

Write a paper on the benfits to the students, administration, and the school's check book by opening up these types of programs. Make sure to include information on how to decrease bandwidth and infrastructure costs while raising the average GPA of the student populace. The administration would love that information.

Get a DSL/Cable connection of your own.

Beyond that, this is a topic that is not looked on kindly by either professional administrators/security personel/policy geeks or the moderators of this site. I have given you information on how to solve the problem. Feel free to PM me with questions. I will be PMing the mods about this thread. Good luck.
