Firewall

I have a Microsoft MN-500. Everything works great, but the built in firewall in XP is not enabled, however this is a firewall built in on the router that is enabled. Should I enable XP's firewall also?
Thanks,
Kishan

Well, if the MN500, whatever that is, is a decent firewall, then there is no reason to enable the XP personal firewall. If you have a bunch of other machines on your network that have users who may be likely to get infected by a virus, then you might want to consider the XP firewall as well.

Call me cooky, but I wouldn't trust a MS security product for anything more than a distraction/honey pot to keep people off of my real security systems.

The Firewall in WinXP original and WinXP SP! Does not add any think to the Router. The Firewall in the coming WinXP SP2 will add more protection to the Router.

As far as Entry Level systems go it is highly recommended to use Software Firewall in conjunction with the Router?s NAT Firewall.

Why? Basic Protection for Broadband Internet Installation.

In addition I would install and occasionally use the following as an example). Spyware, Adware, Clean and Protect ,Free Programs.

Anti-Virus.

Link to: AntiVir Personal Edition 6.22.09.09

Trojan Scanner (Scroll download the second program a2free).
