Sorry I Posted this question In Software just a min ago but figured it would be better here. I just bought me a Router with a hardware fire wall so that I could be more secure when PC is shut down I use to unplug the cabel but other failmy mebers dont do that when I am working night shift. Any way I used Zone alram Pro but now the I abel to get a Fire wall called Freedom I have never heard of it before and always though Zone alarm Pro to be a good fire wall if anyone has info on Freedom firewall or can tell me one that is better than both I would realy like it. I love broadband but hate the secuity isuses that comes with it.

I can't understand your post very well so forgive me if I missed the point. ZoneAlarm is an excellent firewall. I've never heard of Freedom firewall. If you like it, great, go with it, but personally when I've used software firewalls I've had no reason to switch from zone alarm. If you have a router you probably don't need a software firewall unless you don't trust other pcs on the lan or think you might give yourself a trojan that will phone home or something. Unplugging the network cable is a little more paranoia than I care for. It reads like you do that when you turn the computer off. I'll assume I misunderstand you there. If its not safe enough to leave plugged in when you're away from it I'd hate to have to use it ever online. So use whatever firewall you like, zonealarm has the best reputation although freedom may just not be well known. Leave the network cable plugged in.

There are more than ten free and semi-free Software Firewall available.

It is not a matter of good or bad, but more like what you need and how you like the interface.

If you have Cable/DSL Router you need is mainly software Firewall that can control which applications allowed to access the Internet.

General Info here: Basic Protection for Broadband Internet Installation.

I for one like Norton Internet Security. It provides Application control, Virus Control ,Trojan control, Ads and PopUp Control in one application. It is not free but I rather prefer to deal with one inexpensive application, rather then 5 independent pieces of software.
