A few weeks ago I built a new puter going from Win 98 to XP, but I'm having some probs with it.

My mobo is a asus A7N266-VM and it has onboard lan connection. I use the connection in my dorm room and I'm online and everything is fine, except some places keep telling me I'm behind a firewall. I cant connect to yahoo chat, games, msn chat, or my librarys search thingy. When I try to view someones webcam it saids I'm behind a firewall. I went to my connection and the firewall setting isnt checked. I have checked it, unchecked it, rebooted n everything and it still acting up.

I didnt have this problem with my old puter. It just has a cheapo ethernet card from walmart, and in fact when I hooked it back up this morning I can connect to everything fine. That tells me its sumn with this puter, so what can I do to fix this.

Assuming that your Dorm did not institute a form of port blocking.

The problem is probably not Hardware related but rather a setting in WinXP. Make sure that WINXP ICF is disabled as well as Authentication, VPN, or and other kind of WinXP non essential setting.

Well I went into the network connections and the ICF is not on. I have rebooted to make sure that the setting took effect but to no avail. What other settings could be causing it.
