At least here in CT, it's the Firestone (quick-change) store. As I recall, they charged a few bucks more ($17.99 I think) for "high mileage" cars. I don't have any idea why they would charge more for "high mileage" cars for the exact same service and products, and also their definition of "high mileage" was pretty suspect to me-it was 75,000 or 125,000.

The ad here was for a store just opening so it may be limited.

As a autotech I can tell you firestone is a big ripoff. make sure they ONLY do the oil if you do go there and when they tell you XYZ is going bad and it is very unsafe, just ignore them. As 99% of the time it is just to make more money on you.

yep they are garbage. When I had an alignment done there, they only fixed the toe and left the camber and caster setting out of spec. I guess they only did the toe because it was easy.

Isn't that typical of all car garage? Too bad it has to come to the cheating for them to stay in business.

The Firestone by me is pretty decent. $15 oil changes, no fuss. They're franchised though, so I guess that it depends on your local store.

The Firestones in my area are pretty bad. When the mechanic I trusted moved out of the area, I made the mistake of taking my car to Firestone based on someones recommendation. What a bunch of crooks, when I found another mechanic I could trust he untangled quite a bunch of lies and poorly done or not done repairs. Seems like they're getting worse too. 28 BBB complaints in the last 36 months with less than half of them resolved.

Firestone is so bad, I went in to get an oil change, they tore up my CV boots to try to get more money out of me. Luckily I reported this to DMV Consumer Affairs and BBB and they got in trouble...

I take my car to River Oaks Goodyear in Houston on Westheimer near Weslayan. They aren't the cheapest but aren't expensive either, and afaik they are very honest. They often recommend against certain repairs/maintenance when not necessary, and in 15-25 or more visits over the past 9 years I've never had any major repair needs found by them. I got a Nissan Maxima now so it is pretty reliable.

Anyway I feel very confident about these guys. Talk to Rusk if you call.
