FIREFOX VS IE!!! :)

The mouse gestures and builtin page adblocker make it better than IE, not to mention (because of popup blocker and inpage adblocker) it seems to be much less vunerable to spyware.

Why is firefox that much better?

it's better than IE, but not THAT much better. I think the cnet reviews are just about right...Firefox is only 1 point ahead of IE on a 10 point scale, and neither of them got a 10 or even a 9.

Sorry. I know this is a beaten topic, but now there's an online vote, and I just want to see anandtech take part in it.🙁

There's been polls before as well. It'd mandatory when comparing!

I actually just got on FF over a week ago. I really like it thus far. I've noticed decreased pop-ups and slightly increased web browsing speed. But, a major setback is that it doesn't handle flash very well. Good to have both browsers IMO. I'm not too impressed with thunderbird though...I think Outlook is a little better.

do this

open a browser window, type about:config and press enter

go to network.http.pipelining, make it true,
go to network.http.pipelining.maxrequests, make it 100,
go to network.http.proxy.pipelining, make it true,

Enjoy an even faster FF.

What I don't understand is, why this isn't a default setting (we'll maxrequests should be 8, but anyway)...
But yes, that makes a difference!

I use Mozilla 1.7. The only thing about it that I don't like is that I can't use that ChemView thing with it. It only works with IE.

No big deal though.

ff all the way... heh

i particularly like the / find function and the tabs... and it's just nicer overall 🙂
