Firefox User Profile???

Just tried to open Firefox and it prompted me to create a new user as "default" was in use. Now none of my bookmarks and cookies are there....anybody else seen this?
 
yeah i've seen it. i think there was another instance of firefox running stuck in the background. end process fixed i think.. or rebooting
 
Just go find the profile in your \Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla folder and put them where they're supposed to be.

It also happens if you close firefox and open it again very fast; the previous instance of firefox is still performing some tasks (saving settings etc.) although you don't see this. Wait a couple of seconds and start firefox again, if this doesn't fix it, there may be runaway instance of firefox running; try to end the process as dighn suggested.
