Firefox tab options

I want to be able to have the option of opening a new tab in the foreground AND the background. That sounds a bit oxymoronic, but basically (for example) I want to open 4 new background tabs from links on the page that I'm on, AND open a new foreground tab (so that I see it immediately) from a link on the page that I'm on.

You can do this in Opera, but I can't figure out a way to do it in Firefox yet. If there is a way. And there should be.

Are you using the Tabbrowser Extension? It allows you to customize tab options and configuration much, much more than the default Firefox options.

Yeah, I've got that. I can't figure it out.

How hard can it be to create options called "Open Link in New Background Tab" and "Open Link in New Foreground Tab"?
