Firefox slow?

I made the switch, i been an EI user for years.

anyways it seems that firefox is slow at opening websites, or even if i been to the website already it takes more time than EI to open all the graphics.

also sometimes it cannot to a website and i have to refresh and try again.

anyone else having similar issues?

also is there a different google toolbar that i could use with firefox instead of the small section the right hand corner.

In my experience, IE is faster. Of course, IE doesn't have the features I use and is a great way to get your machine compromised, so I put up with the performance difference.

I'm using Slimbrowser, which is a neat multi-tabbed browser (but is still based off IE), but it is definitely slower than IE. I don't care so much about the "security risks" as I have little to "risk" and I keep my system pretty secure otherwise. The thing is that I LIVE off of tabs. Is Firefox the answer? Also, about these optimized builds, does anyone have a direct link to one for an A64 system? I opened Schadenfroh's link and all I saw just confused me
Thanks!

I can't really telll any difference in load times between IE and Firefox. The only problem I have with Firefox is that it doesn't load my journal's images properly, but it's not a huge deal. One of my favorite things about Mozilla (Firefox) is the Chatzilla plugin.

You can increase some settings in the about:config file such as pipelining, max connections. These things can really speed up page loads.

There is a speed-up cheat on the FF homepage, sry don't remember what it is called tho. My FF is faster than IE.

Or, if you're lazy, get the "Tweak Network Settings" extension from here That will set up all the pipelining with the push of a button. Enjoy.

ooh that new google toolbar is nice!

too bad it doesn't have that auto-complete feature that i LOVED about the IE version
