Firefox resource hungry?

If your short on memory consider trying opera. It supports many of same features as firefox and it's extensions while consuming about half as much memory.

I love many of the features of Opera and have been using it as my primary browser for 3-4 months. However latly I find myself using it less and Firefox or even (Gasp) IE7 more because of many sites just do not work as well with it. JMHO

Opera FTW. the latest version is quite good. i have the Beta version 9.2 build 8762. very stable. works very well with many sites.

I noticed that my FireFox browser has been consuming a considerable amount of memory . I saw that when I opened my PC'sTask Manager. Is there a way to reduce Firefox' s memory consumption?

1) Reducing memory usage when the firefox is minimised
-Start up Firefox
-Type in about:config in the address bar and hit Enter
-Right click and choose New > Boolean
-Type config.trim_on_minimize in the pop-up box and hit Enter
-Select True and hit Enter.
-Restart your Firefox
2)Use only extensions that you usually use to minimum the memory usage
3)Fixed the cache capacity

If you encounter a page that was poorly written and doesn't look or work as it was intended with opera, you can just click the 'ie' button to open the site in internet explorer.

To add the ie button to opera click the internet explorer icon on the page linked below then drag the button from opera's preferences to the toolbar position of your choice.
