everytime I tried to download something with firefox, it downloads only a portion of it and then says its done but it's really not. I just tried to download the FEAR demo and it's about 600+ MB, I downloaded 120MB of it and it closed on me. whats the problem here?

That happens to me quite a bit too, though I'm still on dial up. Does it happen to every single thing you try to download, or just some? In my experience, it usually just ends up being the fault of the site I'm trying to download from, I try again a different time or day, and it usually ends up working. Doesn't stop it from being annoying though.

it happens to every download, but i just figured out that it's only when i try to save it to my computer. if i open it instead, it downloads. but if i 'save to disk' it stops in the middle of the download, wonderful.

It says it's completed or it just stops? I find it hard to believe it says it's completed when it's not. Are you using a proxy or firewall?

As I understand it, the code in Gecko (the engine in Firefox and SeaMonkey) doesn't properly realize that a download failed, and the UI can't figure it out either, so it sometimes reports completion even in the event of a failure (like your connection dropping). For now, I'd suggest a download manager of some sort... or a better ISP.

I wish I could get a better ISP... too bad my only choices are 56k or Satellite - god have mercy on my soul. I guess I'll try a download manager... :(

The program may be corrupted. U may have a virus/spyware. Get a fricken firewall and reinstall. Even though u can't do a full-blown hack off a 56k, u can still get small transmissions and unsolicited a mail. Also, your files may be corrupt. Try some of the software below:
