Firefox Memory Leak Question

That's the memory leak...LOL.

From what I understand, it is just Firefox taking up extra memory that it doesn't really need or use.

I've heard of cases where people will leave their machine on with Firefox open and return after many hours to find their system unusable because Firefox has 'eaten' all their system memory.

I don't really think it is much of a problem for those with more memory BUT it is still an important issue, as a LOT of people use it as their main browser, myself included.

I have 4GB of RAM so not really a problem here...just thinking about the issues caused for those with less memory...

After a while, I've seen Firefox climb up to nearly 600mb of ram usage. I do tend to stop and restart FF every few days because of this. Its probably related to cache settings so it might just need some tweaking. I haven't bothered to look.

150K? Don't you mean 150MB? I've seen mine gone up as far as 1.5GB after leaving it on for days.

Have you guys done similar tests with Internet Explorer. Yeah, that thing will start to use up a ton of memory if you use it for days on end. Firefox 3.0 should hopefully make things leaner.
