nope, atwood's law said that everything that can be written in javascript will eventually be written in javascript

shoot, the server-side code i write nowadays is in javascript
And? When I click on a web page and No Script tells me that there are scripts on the page originating from eighteen different domains, I should just cheerfully let them all run? F' that.

Javascript sucks, has always sucked, will always suck.

And I am now also stuck writing server-side code in this garbage language :(

Firefox opened with a forced ad so that relationship is over. Any good no script addons for Chrome?
Others have pointed out the options. The one thing with Chrome (and Android OS) is that your browsing data is still sent to Google.
I am sure they don't abuse this in any way /s

That blue-ish screen, that pops up every third boot of Win10, nagging me to "enhance my Windows experience, by getting an MS ID and activating cortana" has GOT to go. It only offers the options of "remind me later" or "yes".
Never had that happen ever on any windows 10 machine I've had, both ones with and without associated MS IDs...

It was part of several earlier Win 10 version updates and was impossible to avoid. Been at least a year or so since I've seen it happen on one of my PC's though. It also happens when you do a fresh install.

I used to run Noscript but it's such a pain especially if researching something and need to land on lot of different sites. Any site you land on need to figure out which of 20 domains you need to allow for the damn page to load. Web design now days is such garbage. There's no reason to use so much javascript for simply displaying mostly text and pictures. Pretty much all the sites I code will work without JS, and ublock and adblock etc will not show anything blocked. Not sure why it's so hard for some people to code a decent site now days. Seems most of them are full of so much annoyances and garbage bloat.

If you can post a screenshot of the exact verbiage Larry I can help you with that, but there's a setting in Windows Settings to disable that screen on reboot. It's just a checkbox but I just can't remember exactly where it's at without seeing the exact verbiage on it. As far the Windows Updates/reboots, change them to how you want them to behave. For a mining rig I would think you'd just want it to not reboot if a user is logged in-

Start --> Run (or just do Windows Key + R) --> Gpedit.msc --> Administrative Templates --> Windows Components --> Windows Update and then all the settings are there. You can enable 'No auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installation' Alternatively go under 'configure automatic updates' and you can set it to update automatically once a month, etc.

Are you saying it does this when you launch the browser? You can set it to open a specific table, which I use 'about:blank' for that. I also use the setting to do the same when opening new tabs.

Oh, the horror of it all. I just can't even deal with it today........

I had to click "no thanks" once, and it likely ruined my entire month! :p ;)

faint-drama.gif

I've had to click No Thanks a few times over the past two days... I use a few different computers, and every one of them gave me that dialog box after they updated Firefox to the latest release.

It would be nice if they tied the Firefox update message to your Firefox account, so you only see it once!

I have not had any of that happen to me on Firefox but I'm on Linux so I wonder if it's different. Maybe distros clean that stuff up before they package it? Mine just opens a blank page when I open a new tab.

It's the easiest way to get sites that will render decently in both desktop and mobile/tablet browsers.

I’m on winders and it hasn’t happened to me yet.

More like it DID happen several times but it was so insignificant and meaningless that you barely noticed it! (in other words you reacted normally!)

;)

*(we're talking about the "Firefox was updated here are the new features" tab which shockingly opens after an update and is mildly annoying BUT not malware rotfl)

Foxfire refuses to close that tab unless the user agrees to look at their shit or you force close the browser.

This latest release also had a pop-up that offered some new color schemes to try. I tried it (once) on my Windows gaming PC, and didn't find anything that I liked as much as Dark Mode.

Then I got the same pop-up on my new Macbook. And my old Macbook. And the Macbook that I use for work. Again, it didn't bother me as much as the OP, but I gotta admit that I got a wee bit annoyed the third and fourth time I saw it. I'll probably see it at least 3 more times... once in my the Windows VM that I use on my work PC, once on my wife's Windows laptop, and once on my daughter's gaming PC when I update it.

If I was still working IT desktop support or software QA, this is the kind of thing that would piss me off as I would see it dozens of times.

Oh, that bit. Doesn't bother me.

Last one I had I closed right away. Didn't have a problem with it.

Never happened to me either.

Sounds like OP has something happening beyond a tab about updates in Firefox unfortunately.

IME those are just normal tabs and close with a click looked at or not.

Could be the browser-install is borked somehow. (or there is some kind of malware issue going on)
