I got sick of running spyware eradicators all the time, so I've almost completely made the jump from IE to Firefox. I like the tabbed browsing, simple interface, popup blocker, and bookmark manager a lot. Props to Mozilla for Good Stuff (tm).

Yep, same here. I've converted many comps in the office and at home with FireFox. Screw IE and all their loop holes

danny~!

the Sunbird calendar project looks pretty sweet too, I can't wait till there's a final release version!

It's not like it ever needed to grow on me. The first time I used it I noticed it was way better than POS IE, and there's no reason not to use Firefox compared to IE.

I've been thinking about giving either Firefox or Mozilla a try. I've read about all the positives.

What are the negatives of using these "rebel browsers" vs. IE?

The only negative I can think of is that certain webpages are coded to an "IE standard" rather then to the "HTML standard" (ie: poorly coded), which may make them render incorrectly. However, this is really only an issue with amateur-ish "personal" websites. Just about anything mainstream will work fine in any browser.

Personally, I prefer Opera to Firefox/IE, but Firefox is a great browser, certainly an improvement over IE for the many reasons listed on this board. Nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

I haven't had a problem with FF loading anything cept for Windows Update, which I trust MS enough to be secure. ;) Just get the ieview extension for convenience if you do run across them but I never even use it anyway cause all the pages load just fine.
