Firefox is Firefuxed

I just bought a new PC and tried to install Firefox 1.4. Installs fine, but each time I start it I simply get the Microsoft Error Reporting screen, send don't send. Uninstalled, downloaded Firefox 1.5, same thing. Multiple uninstall and reinstall, no dice. Any clues?

Clear out all your Temp files .. in C:\Windows\Temp ... and also C:\Windows\Prefetch
and also under Docs & Settings ... your user id, Local Settings, Temp

That should do it ... if not find Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility .... you can get it here:

I didn't know there was a new Firefox.......just downloaded it and installed. Exact same problem, instant send error report box.

I cleared all my temp files and am going to check prefetch stuff before moving on to Installer cleaner.

You sure your system is stable and the OS is installed cleanly and correctly?

How new is the PC? Where/who did you get it from, or did you build it?

Temp files deleted, cant find prefetch except a file called prefetch.xpt. Ran a registry cleaner. OS came preinstalled from PCClub.....it is a Win XP Home 2002 version, and I only have a ghost image to reload not able to do an actual clean install. Computer is a few weeks old. All SP's and updates are installed. Additionally, FF does same thing in safe mode.

Im downloading Windows Installer Cleaner now. Has anyone ever heard of Firefox just not running. Would anyone be able to maybe tell whats wrong if I reinstall and post the Send Error Report details box?

walks you through removing firefox completely, including all the stuff that gets left behind when you do a normal uninstall through add/remove programs.

Side issue Paul, but can you burn the entire I386 folder on your operating drive to a cd or dvd? If so, I believe you can do a clean install if needed.

Wheres my i386 folder? For some strange reason I can't find my system32 folder.....weird.

i had that problem when I tried to install firefox as well, so I just installed firefox 3.0 😛😛

(mozilla minefield) go dl that.
