Firefox doesn't save images to HDD

I'm a bit baffled here, I started having this problem with firefox when I want to save an image to my hard drive, everything seems normal, right click--> save image as --> select folder and click ok, except that when I check the location where the image is supposed to be saved it isn't there, I've tried uninstalling FF and reinstalling but still the same problem, any ideas?

Some websites may not let you save their images. Try IE to see if you have the same problem.

Uhhh..... Can you give me an example of these amazing websites?

OP: Are you sure? Create a new folder with nothing in it, and see if ANYTHING is saved to the folder once you right click/save as

Some websites run a javascript that disables the right click menu and attempts to keep you from saving images that way. It doesn't seem to be the issue in this case, as it sounds like the OP can access the right click menu.
