firefox address bar help

I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem. Whenever I type an address into my laptop's address bar for firefox it does not immediately put the cursor to the webpage I go to. So for example I would type "www.google.com", enter, and then when I would normally type pagedown on my desktop, my laptop cursor will still be in the address bar. Any suggestions?
 
Are you talking about focus? After I type in a URL, the "content" area of the browser gets focus immediately so I can use PageDown and up to scroll. Do you have any autofocus features on your touchpad/pointer stick turned on?
