firefox 8 final

Just upgraded from Firefox 4. Anyone know how to turn off the url gray shade? I was able to find the fix for hiding the http://, but wasn't able to find about the gray shade.

This is why I really hate the rapid release schedule - Mozilla keeps screwing things up and it's a pain to find hacks/fixes to it.

Version numbers now grow exponentially. We will need scientific notation soon.

Yes its true, but if we update bi daily, we can always have the latest version. Be there or be square.

Dare we hope, Firefox version 10 to the third power by Valentines day!

Just did the update from the ftp file ... all went well, except it likes to default to the new Firefox 8 look. Had to reneable my Firefox 3 theme for Firefox 4 (and later versions) .. and it now asks about your addons, disabling any from 3rd parties, unless you explicitly tell it to allow them. So far, so good.

that is one of the new features in 8, it will stop 3rd parts stuff from installing unless you tell it too.

Heck ya Im using Firefox 8.0

I give it thumbs up,. all my plugins work,, wow,,, things look sharp, I just love technology!!!

gb

what did they change from 7? anything important ?

The usual, plugins malfunction, pages load slowly or not at all yet load fine in IE and chrome and FF5.

No, haven't been happy with 6 and 7 or the 5 minutes in between releases. I'm old and grumpy.

And I'm officially off Firefox. It runs really bad for me... The download scan after finishing files, then the application stopping for no reason and opening the download manager kills it for 2-3 minutes sometimes... script errors in it... And it's on a SSD (X-25M) and a Q9450... Madness!

Hello again, Chrome. Sorry I left!

Strange, when I visit the regular Firefox download page, or go to Help -> About in my Firefox 7.0.1 browser, it says I'm up to date. 😕

so sick of these updates... more plugins disabled.... ugh

I have favicons turned off and FF8 puts a dotted box in place of missing favicons. WTF? Any way to hide these?

Updated today and the only difference I see is what Kev mentioned above about the dotted box on two of my bookmarks. Doesn't bother me. No issues with add-ons or plugins.

So far I like this version even better. Faster. Better features where you don't have any third party add-ons installing themselves. Best feature ever.

The only thing I hated was the new icon for no favorite icon I had to change it back. That is why I love Firefox so much though there is nothing you can't do with it. Anyway you want it to look you can have it. Any extra features you need easily added.
