It isn't spyware disguised as a browser. It's also competition to hopefully prevent google from becoming the defacto web standards authority, cause that worked so well the last time a company did that. For day to day use, it's at least the equal of chrome, if not better.
Your first statement, are you saying Google Chrome is Spyware disguised as a browser?

Yes. It's used to funnel data to google, same as everything else they do. They don't release cool software cause they're cool guys. They release it to enhance their business as an ad company. Google software are tools that benefit google. The software is only useful to users because if it wasn't, it wouldn't get used, and they wouldn't get data.

What does any of that nonsense have to do with the topic of discussion; google? You know, that thing you explicitly asked about? And yes, I take precautions throughout my life, both digital, and analog. Anyone who doesn't is a fool.

it all has to do with the paranoid being worried about the big bad "GOOGLE." Looking to learn more about this topic though, what are some steps you take to protect yourself digitally and analogically?

Scope's too broad for a software forum, but for software, I use libre software as much as possible. If the source code can be inspected, it's less likely to include badware. If badware does turn up(it's happened to at least two projects I've used), it can be forked, and the badware removed.

Most(but not all) free services don't exist to serve the user. They exist to serve the company that provides the service. My privacy is worth more than a couple cents of harddrive space and cpu time. The couple free services I use are exclusively for work, and there's nothing that can be easily attributed to me. Otherwise, I pay for the service. That's no guarantee data won't be hoovered up, but it's clear how they make their money, and their privacy policy is clear. If that gets violated, I can take it to court.

I love having tabs on the bottom in FF. A simple script makes a huge difference!

I use a blue neon gradient theme. It's not perfect but works pretty well.
