I think I found a major bug but I don't know how to report it. My browser froze on me several times while watching youtube videos while surfing and doing some other stuff in multiple windows and tabs.

No "report this" dialogue came up.

I hope it's not a showstopper bug because I'm loving the new firefox.

What add-ons do you have installed?

Why the delay on posting it to the main site? Just to prepare for the massive traffic onslaught?

I downloaded it. This is my first time using 4.0, as I never got around to downloading any of the beta releases. I have to say, I *really* like this. The build feels very fast, and I like the layout (though I did keep the tabs below the URL bar... call me old fashioned).

Yes, i'm pretty sure they are still retrofitting the download website and distributing copies to mirrors for the official launch.

Is there anyway to keep the tabs at the top but leave a little extra space (say 5-10 pixels) so I can use the drag and snap-to-side feature in Windows without firefox trying to separate a tab?

Edit: Nevermind, I found out how.

I made the changes by adding this into the userChrome.css file:

@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);

/* Move tabs up to titlebar */

#main-window[sizemode="maximized"] #navigator-toolbox[tabsontop="true"] #TabsToolbar {

padding-top: 5px !important;

}

Does Firefox have anything like the google account synchronization of Chrome? For me, that is the killer feature. I use about 6 different computers regularly, and I'm also something of a chronic reinstaller of windows, it's just too convenient being able to put in my gmail account and getting all my bookmarks and settings.

Edit: Well well well, Firefox has "firefox synch". Looks like exactly what I wanted. Now I just have to decide if I like the browser more than Chrome...

No "open new tab" button in the customize pool, font rendering is screwy, no closing multiple tabs warning despite the option being ticked, and tab rearranging is broken. I like the speed improvements, but this is sort of sloppy.

The font rendering is a little weird. It looks like clear type x 10. Also, I unchecked "tabs on top", I liked the tabs where they were.

Loving this so far even though a few of my extensions that i don't use a lot don't work. I'm sure they will be fixed soon enough. yay for speed!!!

I love the improvement in speed, but why did they have to change the UI so drastically. I didn't here anyone complaining about the interface in v3. First thing I did was uncheck 'tabs on top'.

Having said that, it still doesn't feel as snappy as Chrome. I find myself switching between the 2 browsers, I can't make up my mind. I love Chrome's speed and clean UI, but I quickly miss Firefox's extensions, and vice versa.

btw, to fix some of the weird font stuff disable hardware acceleration.

I just disabled it and it fixed the weird looking fonts for me too. For those who want to do the same.... tools>options>advanced>general and uncheck use hardware acceleration when available. Restart Firefox.

Complete garbage! How do I revert back? My web pages are loading ungodly slow. Im talking about dial up speeds for anandtech forums. I literally have to wait a good 8 seconds to show Fark.com. This sucks.

That's not the browser, at least not as-designed. I'd try creating a new profile, and see if that fixes it.

I dont like it, I like to keep my toolbar up, but when I turn it on, I get 2 bars to show up. Why cant it just integrate the toolbar someplace else, instead of having to click a button first to get to the toobar.

I like XMarks. It's because Xmarks works cross platform. I used Chrome at work, FF at home. XMarks can work on IE and Safari too. I get the same bookmarks everywhere 😀

I have to actually install an add-on if I want my status bar at the bottom back? That sucks. I also dislike that because I have no status bar, the noscript icon moved up to the address bar. The main reason I dislike that is I have converted family to using Firefox because I got tired of cleaning spyware/malware from their computers and showed them how to use NoScript. Once FF updates on their computers, they will have absolutely no clue where the icon is for noscript and call me in a panic. ugh.

Anyone know if there is a way to restore the status bar though, by editing about:config?
