Ugh, plugins. I want my browser to get out of my way, I don't need it to be some bloated feature-rich fat client.
How do you save videos then?

Me and the gf were looking through the folder of saved internet videos and it was like looking through an old photo album. So many memories.
-ET porn
-2 girls 1 cup
-leaked murder video
-counter-strike for kids
-dick in a box
-free hugs
-alex navarro reviewing big rigs
-guy in iran getting his hands cut off

Saving this stuff is really important :)

omg I looked in my saved folder again and I saw a video that I just had to share with you guys. I saved this one in case youtube ever bans that guy (this has happened lots of times to various people I follow)

So far liking Firefox 4.0 it is very quick! Have all of my add ons installed as well. Tab Mix Plus, Greasemonkey, Roboform Password Manager add on, Flashblock, DownThemAll, and Ad Muncher report and don't filter page add on.

Oh cool if you already have a site or forum open then try to open in a new tab Firefox 4.0 directs you to the tab you have open already! Helps a lot on not having duplicate tabs of the same exact site or forum section. It doesn't overdo it though where it defeats the purpose.

Nice, got Minefield from Today running and working with grab&drag. Couldn't get IE Tab to install though, says there was a connection failure.

so far so good, looks really nice. also renders some pages properly that weren't rendering properly with firefox 4 beta

For all the talk about Fitt's Law, it doesn't appear as though any of Firefox, Opera, or Chrome actually obey the principle, because the tabs do not reach to the top of the screen. The entire point of putting UI items at the borders of the screen is to extend their effective area; since the mouse cursor can't extend beyond the border of the screen, UI items at the border have infinite effective width. I use both Firefox 4.0b and Opera 10.60, and it is possible in both browsers to move the cursor past the top of the tab. I don't currently have Chrome installed, but screenshots illustrate that the tabs don't reach to the top of the screen either.

One of Firefox's greatest strengths is undoubtedly the wide array of add-ons available. Perhaps because of this strength, however, Firefox has always seemed curiously lacking in basic functionality. Omnibar and speed dial, for instance, are highly useful tools with no disadvantages or trade-offs (that I am aware of), and thus should be included in the default browser configuration. It's ridiculous that anyone should need third-party add-ons to provide such basic usability improvements.

Chrome most certainly does behave correctly according to Fitt's Law. It doesn't surprise me that Opera and Failfox don't, because they're both awful browsers with confused and unfocused development teams.

Well, to be fair, Chrome doesn't seem to have a full-featured speed dial either; hitting Ctrl-(number) in Opera at any time takes me to the page set in that slot in the speed dial, which is far more useful than a graphical speed dial that only functions when it's displayed. Chrome also seems to lack a good tab navigator. Ctrl-(number) works fine as long as you have fewer than ten tabs and can tell at a glance if a tab is sixth or seventh. Both Firefox and Opera have superior implementations in this regard.

To date, I haven't used a single browser that gets everything right out of the box. Firefox ultimately edges out the others in my book just because all of the necessary functionality is available, albeit through extensions. While Opera and Chrome function better than Firefox in their base configurations, you're often SOL if you need those extra features and tweaks. For instance, Chrome just got real ad blocking, and it's not even entirely functional according to the developer. And while Chrome and Opera both offer Javascript whitelisting, the native solutions still don't compare to FF's NoScript extension.

Not sure if I understand correctly. Opera provides a setting to move the tabs on the top and not have the menu bar. Maybe you could post a screenshot.

It's immediately apparent when you attempt to change tabs. Even with the tabs on top, there is a slight gap between the top edge of the tab and the top of the screen. Clicking in this gap will not select the tab, which completely defeats the point of putting the tabs on top because it fails to take advantage of the infinite effective height provided by edge-of-screen placement.

I switched my Firefox nightly build tabs back to like they use to be in Firefox 3. It looks exactly like the old firefox now expect it is a lot quicker now!

Well, I got all of my extensions working in Minefield except Video DownloadHelper and MinimizeToTray Plus. Successfully have AdBlock Plus, BetterPrivacy, Grab and Drag, FlagFox, IE Tab Plus, NoScript, Omnibar, printpdf, and SearchPreview all working.

In XP, the tabs don't have the plus sign to the right of the tab but if I double click in that area it opens a new tab. In Win7, the plus sign is there.
I no longer use Firefox, went back to IE and I'm happy again...:)

If you are using Flash 10.1 and using Firefox in Private Mode then you probably don't need Better-Privacy. In Private Mode firefox will delete flash-cookie on exit just like regular(browser not brownie) cookies.

ff minefield 4.0b3pre is out.

Does it overwrite existing Firefox 3.6.x?

I really want to try it out but I'm afraid it might overwrite current firefox.

I'm using it in parallel to ff3.6.x. I have installed minefield and beta in separate directories. Created separate profile for them. And edited there desktop/quicklink shortcuts to point to separate profiles.

At the end of installation un-check the box that says something like "Launch firefox after finishing installation".

Right click shortcut->Properties->edit Target add -no-remote -P "yourFFProfileName"

example:
Code:
"C:\apps\firefoxbeta\firefox.exe" -no-remote -P "firefox4beta"
"C:\apps\minefield\firefox.exe" -no-remote -P "minefield4"

The first time you click the shortcut it will prompt you to create a new Profile. Just create 'firefox4beta' and click ok.

I'm using the same profile between them. Every time I start one after running the other, it acts like I just updated, but otherwise it works fine. I backed up my profile in case anything bad happens, but so far, so good.

Thank you! That helped me 100%!

Some of my addons totally broke, which worked either partially, or completely in beta1.

Ad Block Plus, Fire Gestures 1.6b2, Tab Mix Plus 0.3.8.5pre100723a, and Grease Monkey 2010.07.18Beta works fine on beta 2.
Speed Dial 0.9.5.1 doesn't work.

If I could find drag-and-drop extension that works, I could use it as a main browser but none of those seems to work so far.
