You can get rid of the AwesomeBar with the extension oldbar:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6227">https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6227</a>

I haven't tried it myself yet but there's plenty of reviews.
Thanks. I don't know why this isn't simply a checkbox option in FF3. 😕

And this version is quite crash prone. It's crashed on me at least 5x today alone.

Still no idea how to get my Downloads history to show up, or how to make it clone the old windows/tabs with just Ctrl+N and Ctrl+T.

I guess it's a blatant push to force everyone to get used to it. I've used it briefly and not enthralled so far.

Can someone tell me how to sort bookmarks in this version?

Opern the 'Bookmarks' menu and click 'Organize Bookmarks'
Right click on 'Bookmarks Menu' or a folder and select 'Sort by name'
That's what I did, but it doesn't sort my bookmarks. It will sort them inside the menu, but when I close it, and check my bookmarks, they are not sorted.

Some of the options on the right-click menu don't work either.

None of those do anything.

Same here... It might be a bad install.

I didn't like it at first either but now I'm quite happy with it. The ability to search through your history and bookmarks works great.

I've still got it on the 3 machines I use regularly. We'll see how it goes.

It's working for me now after I did a reinstall.

That is very, very exciting.

Using Portable Firefox 2.X at the moment. I'm eagerly awaiting a final release of FF 3.0 to install as my permanent browser.

IE7 is pretty, but it's too archaic in terms of page text-searching and bookmarks/favorites management to be useful for me anymore. I gave it a shot for a few months and decided to go back to reliable FF! 🙂

I finally installed it.. much better than the early beta i used a while back. now to try it on OS X... and hopefully foxmarks can get their extension finalized
