Firefox 3.0.4 and cookies?

Hello, I have Firefox 3 since it was first released. No problem with it until now. It seems like the cookies are disabled. Example: I sign into Gmail or other websites and click "remember me." However, after I exit Firefox and start it again, I will be asked for username and password again. I went to Tools/Options/Privacy and I have all the options regarding cookies checked.

I would do a clean install if somebody tell me how to back up all my favorites. Thanks for the help.
 
I've had that before to

it was an issue with my anti-virus
I had CA
after CA was uninstalled, I had to re-install firefox
