I recently went to 2.0.0.2 and the random crashing started on me. I would view some site and at some random point it just puff disappeared. So have anyone experiencing this on their machine? updated to 2.003 no use. I will see if any of my plugin can be an issue.

mine is: windows XP sp2 running firefox 2.0.0.3.
plugins:
Live HTTP Headers 0.13.1
CHM Reader 0.2.1.1
DOM inspector 1.8.1.3
Talkback 2.0.0.3

Well, I thought it was just my setup and a random plugin was doing it, but its nice to know that Im not the only one ;)

On my Vista machine it stays up, but wont goto any pages. IE works fine, as does ping, but it just acts like it crashed.

On XP it does exactly like you are saying.. just poof!

I notice it more when I hibernate or suspend than just using it (although it does happen like that too).

The first thing I would do is take out any plugins. If that doesn't work, I'd try disabling whatever virus scan you have, and if you have a third party firewall, go back to the Windows firewall.

thanks looks like this could be plugin problem. I will try updating them first if not helping off load one at a time see if that helps. I will also do a system burn-in with Ortho/prime95/mem86 etc to ascertain stability just to make sure problems aren't from hardware.

My Firefox does the same thing!
Matter of fact, IE7 does it also, although both only do it on one or 2 certain sites.
The one classified site I use at work ALWAYS crashes them, every time, but I have no problems at home or anywhere else for that matter.

I must have a boring PC,my Firefox 2.0.0.3 and Vista x64 working great even with 3 extensions and a few plug-ins installed.

I agree could be a plug-in issue, I would completely uninstall Firefox then run CCleaner, reboot PC and install just a fresh copy of Firefox without any extras, see how it runs on stability.
