Yes I also think flash could be the issue. I'd uninstall it completely and install the latest version which came out recently and supposedly is the fix for the flash/firefox problems that some people are experiencing.

I was on 13.0.1 . I tried the 14 Beta 12 before and it kept crashing so I thought ok lemme wait for the final version.

The final version came out and it was time for me to format my laptop so I formatted and installed v14.0.1 right away but it gave me the exact same random crashes everywhere like I had with the Beta.

Switching back to v13.0.1 fixes the issue immediately and I didn't get a single crash ever!

If you're saying its a Flash problem I have to disagree because if it was, then how come v13.0.1 is working like a charm ?

I am using the latest version of Flash

I don't know what is causing this issue but v13 seems to work perfectly and it's not like v14 has anything extra...same old slow Firefox compared to the snappy Chrome (which I still love thanks to its interface and addons) but with a higher version number

Whatever happened to x.1, x.2, x.3, etc. versioning of software? How is it that we now go from 12.01 to 13.01 to 14.01 in a matter of weeks?

welcome to the new direction of firefox. where they try to catch up to chrome in new version numbers.

welcome to the new direction of firefox. where they try to catch up to chrome in new version numbers.

Maybe Mozilla is trying to inflate their "number of times downloaded" stats. When the browser has to be freshly downloaded every 6 weeks, I suppose that would help.

Meanwhile, still no equivalent to Protected Mode a la IE7/8/9, or a sandbox a la Chrome. I don't understand why they're letting that slide, it would be a major improvement.

Updated to 14.0.1 just now from the main web site. Firefox would have probably done it by itself in a day or two.

Totally Agree! They need a sandbox!
Does anyone know if that is in the works?

It updates fine through the Help menu as well, just did it.

My only complaint (and it's a meaningless one in the grand scheme) is they removed the background imaging around the forward/back/home/refresh buttons. The background imaging added depth and made them look better. Now it looks like Windows 3.1 or something. Again, minor, but I'm picky about certain things. Oh well, I'll get used to it.

That's my only complaint also. I don't like it. Oh well, I'll get used to it also.

No more favicon in the url bar. I'm not sure how much I care, but I might look into putting it back.

I noticed they shrunk the size of the icons on the navigation bar and some look a bit different like the bookmarks icon.

Try that with a Standard User account and a Software Restriction Policy. Last I checked, not only does it not work, it also won't report that you're out-of-date, either. To overcome that, the browser has to be launched with Run As Administrator privileges.

I don't have a "Software Restriction Policy" on my personal computer and I would assume that an overwhelming majority of users don't either, so I really don't care if a minute amount of people have to launch as Admin to update. It worked fine for me.

Just tried playing this video and it was fine for me, i let it run until the end also.

It's only happened twice for me, and I haven't been able to replicate it with a specific video. Google's JS has been a little problematic lately. Maybe they aren't doing things quite to standard.

Edit:
This is from the video above. It looks like an issue with their feather beta script.

I was getting this error message too starting July 17th in Win7 when watching some YouTube videos (Flash disabled, in HTML5). Today HTML5 seems to work on the first video opened, then pulls the 'script error' when I watch a second one.

Seems to be a common problem lately:

I guess they are 'experimenting' with it or something (or trying to get everyone to switch from Firefox to Google Chrome... so that's why they bought YouTube :awe: ).

Anyone else have Adblock plus that just disappears (and stops working) on version 14?

I have the latest Adblock Plus (July 24th). I have uninstalled and reinstalled it. Might have to start FireFox over again (have had to do this before).
