Mozilla is finally ready to unveil the Firefox New Tab Page. It's been working on it for a while but the latest iteration is rather new. It's fairly basic too, but Mozilla wants some real world testing so it's enabling it in the Aurora builds for a limited time.

"We turned the New Tab feature on by default to make it easier for you to test on Aurora. We plan to turn the feature off again on February 16th (next Thursday)," Mozilla announced.

The Firefox new tab page only lists your most visited pages, based on your history. Nine websites are listed in a grid with thumbnails for all of them, similar to how Chrome or Opera handle the same feature.

Mozilla most likely plans to enhance the feature in time, but it is now looking for some real world feedback on how people will use it.

What's wrong with it? The way they have it now I don't find especially useful, but I like it in Opera.

I have absolutely no use for it. I'm on the release channel for FF, so haven't seen it yet, but if it's like Chrome...when I set my homepage to about:blank I want it to show up whenever I open the browser and/or open a new tab. Not a collage of pages from my history.
