Fired!

I just got the email that I've been fired! (effective up & coming monday)

I was working 10 hours a week via VPN doing online tech support (answering questions via newsgroup backend of the web based support section of our site)

Should I ask for benefits or parting $ or anything? I am a poor college student ya know...

I am not sure if you will have something coming your way. Thought technically in CA if your fired you are to get 2 weeks pay in advance.. I am not sure if that holds for part time.

There's no such law like that in California. Your ass can be canned for any reason at all. Most employers wait until they have a good reason so you won't jack up their Unemployment Insurance. Although, there are quite a few laws in California that will help you. How do I know? Because I wanted to transfer my business from AZ to CA, but just sh1tcanned the idea when I found it was too much trouble.

Sorry to hear you were fired. 10 hours, I wouldn't sweat it.
