FireBird or Netscape 7.1?

ok.

i just dl'd and installed Opera. it looks ok, but all the keystroke commands are different, mouse strokes is annoying. i think i'll stick with firebird.

There's no reason to use Netscape, but it's not because of the design of its gui toolkit. Netscape 6.0 and above were just Mozilla with some stuff added on and some stuff changed. They were also fairly far behind in releases. I.e. any given version of netscape is usually a fairly old version of mozilla with netscape's stuff merged into it.

So yeah, basically ever since Netscape 4.x, Netscape has sucked (it might have sucked for a while before that too, I dunno). Starting with 6.0 they were just crusty versions of mozilla with annoy-ware built-in, and now they're completely gone. AOL killed Netscape.

The REAL question would be "Mozilla or Firebird?". I would say firebird, but it all depends. Try both and figure it out for yourself.

the quick reply feature is a gift for this forum 🙂

it's great that you got firebird, but that option is available with every browser 🙂

It never showed up for me in IE6 for some reason

Thats because firebird has a bug in it that will not allow you to hide the quick reply box, where as in IE6 you can hide, dock and undock the quick reply window 🙂

Somehow I suspect it's the fault of Fusetalk's developers, not Firebird.

You can turn off mouse gestures in the preferences, I personally don't use them either. The shortcuts are different but now i'm very used to f2 then g and my search terms to search google, control tabbing between browser tabs, ctl+f4 to close a tab, etc. F4 for the hotlist, etc

Just DL'd Firebird for OS X - nice. Reminds me a bit of Safari. Thanks.

One thing - anyone know how to get my Mozilla bookmarks into it? 😉

If you really want it to look like Safari, look at the saf themes here.

To import your Mozilla favorites, go to Bookmarks->Manage Bookmarks->File->Import, then track down bookmarks.html in your Mozilla profile directory.
