OK, that's it..........must....have......hot.....ramen!

*runs off to find some*
Looks like Amazon has it @ $15/10 pack. I'm tempted to pick it up, but I'm not a huge fan of Ramen....I eat it and am hungry 30 minutes later. Maybe eating it with this much chili sauce would make me too nauseous to want to eat anything else afterward.

I tried the original for dinner tonight. It's got some heat but isn't overbearingly spicy for me. It did give me a couple of sniffles. I didn't sweat or get a capsaicin high. There was a little bit of tingling on the lips/in the mouth but nothing painful. I agree with the OP on taste; it tastes pretty darned good for a prepackaged ramen. I think I'll try the 2x tomorrow. If it keeps a similar flavor profile, I have a feeling I'll like the 2x even more. The original is already something I would buy again though.

The 2x is noticeably hotter than the original. Kind of a similar result, but I did get a slight capsaicin high - nothing like sweating or pain though. It might be a bit much for some, but it also might be just a blip to people who are really into spicy food. I noticed that the packages list their scoville values: 8,808 for the 2x and 4,404 for the original. That puts the 2x in the area of a high end jalapeno or mild serrano pepper. It seemed a bit hotter than that as I ate it, but that's about what you could expect.

Flavor was about the same, but I think they lost a bit of the taste going for the higher spice level. I prefer the taste of the original, not a lot, but enough that I'd probably buy the original over the 2x.

Thanks for the report. Yeah, I read the 2X is really 8,808 and double the hot rating. But the 4X is phony. The 4X is only 2,700 SHU. It's even lower than the original. The 4X is Chinese flavor style noodle and not like the original or the 2X. I bought two more 5 pack of the original since that was on sale and not the 2X. I'll pick up 2X when it's on sale.

Yeah, that's what I found as well. The new hot chicken mala flavor was erroneously being called a 4x when it was simply a new flavor. I'm curious to try the curry flavor. I like curry, and they seem to make pretty good stuff.

It doesn't seem all that bad.

My friend and his wife love this guys's videos lol. There's a pretty solid chance he ends up on the TV screen if the nights go late over there. I've actually seen that one before, but I didn't make the connection until you posted that video. I should bring some of the 2x to work and let him try it.

I placed my Amazon order to see what all the fuss is about. If this is only 4k SHU like I'm seeing in this thread, I'm preparing myself for some disappointment. I was just eating some chicken with bhut jolokia hot sauce this evening for dinner.

Made some of them today, meh, hot definitely, but nothing nearly as crazy as these videos. Less hot than the vindaloo I get at the mediocre Indian place in town.

Well that last video, if you watched it, the guy added something extremely hot to it so it's not the same thing.

Anyone tried this instant noodle and completed the challenge? I just learned about this from my daughter. I guess this was the rage on social media like one or two years ago. I guess I'm old.

Thai roommate didn't think I could handle their spiciest spices, but it didn't phase me.

I also tried a monster size pack of those black-package noodles in your second picture. Delicious.

Which tells me America's food taste is changing for the better. It speaks volume that you can buy this stuff in the US and people can enjoy and handle the heat. Something difficult even 20 years ago.

Ates me some. Not all that hot.

The Asian food store I got them from had 2X hot packages right next to them. May try those later.

Different kind of hot though, vindaloos have that cinnamon heat right? Deal breaker for me.

Korean food is my jam, bring it on. The hek buldak is about as spicy as I want things though. I'm all for an endorphin rush, don't get me wrong, but I want to be able to taste all the other things on the table too. Food so hot it makes your ears burn and you're practically hallucinating? No thanks, I'm not trying to prove anything here. People who go all LA Beast with the heat confuse me. While I don't suffer any GI distress from spicy foods, I hear about it constantly from those who do. Why do people hate their tastebuds and O-rings?

I'm in it for the experience. I love heat(in my food. Weather can fuck right off). I have very few issues from eating hot stuff, and the rare occasions I do, I consider it part of the deal. Probably 90% of the food I get out is bland. When I have the opportunity, I like turning it up to 11.

Then stop being a wuss and do like the guy in the video did, start adding this to your "bland" food.

Nope. Already said I don't do extracts. They're talentless creations. Anyone can mix some chemicals together to get something usable. I appreciate the breeding skill of growers, and the mixing skill of hotsauce makers to get a tasty blend. Same reason I wouldn't vape. It's just a bunch of chemicals anyone with a gas spectrometer could put together. Growing, curing, and blending tobacco is an art, and I appreciate art.
