Fire Noodle Challenge

Anyone tried this instant noodle and completed the challenge? I just learned about this from my daughter. I guess this was the rage on social media like one or two years ago. I guess I'm old.

Didn't watch the video, but I've never had prepackaged food that was too hot. I'll keep my eyes open for it. As long as it isn't made in China, I'll give it a shot.

I've tried it 3 times. It's extremely HOT. And i love spicy foods. It's so hot that i had to blow my nose several times just while trying to finish it.

It tastes delicious, but it's really too hot to enjoy casually.

I'd totally try that. I generally love hot foods. Only thing I find it hurts my teeth if it's TOO hot. But I'd still try it just for sake of trying it.

This 5 pack is mine. Just got it today. It's made by company called Samyang. They're well known instant noodle company in South Korea. This 5 pack of noodle was made in South Korea. It was $4 for the 5 pack at the local Korean mart. This is the original. There are now 2X hotter version and 5X as well I think.

My wife told me she knew about this noodle and it's very popular in South Korea. She said she avoided buying it because she thought I wouldn't be able to handle the heat. She's probably right but now I have to prove her wrong. At least pretend to her it's not that hot.

Be sure to report back

I needed to grab some thai basil today, so I checked for this at the local asian grocery store. I found the original and the 2x - no luck on the 5x. I'll try them at some point this week.

Its pretty spicy for a packaged ramen.

You get used to it though. It's severely hot for mainstream standard.

It's hot but not deadly.

Local food truck company here has the hot sauce challenge. If you can down a shot of their extra hot sauce, you get a free meal. You also have to be willing to be on video that they post. I shocked them when I did it and it didn't even bother me. It's hot when you put it on their food and eat it. But I dropped the shot of extra hot sauce to the back of my throat and just swallowed it, not letting it touch my tongue or swish in my mouth. My stomach was kind of itchy for a while and they were even more shocked when they saw me then douse my meal with the same extra hot sauce. They told me to come back in a month to do it again and I told them I'd do two shots.

Well to be honest, I'm kind of scared to try it because of my wife's warning. That and I have so much other yummy food to eat, I haven't felt like eating instant ramen. But I'm craving ramen today so I might try it later. I like spicy food but I don't enjoy stupid spicy just for the sake of being spicy. I like flavorful spicy. Food shouldn't be so spicy you can't enjoy it. I know you can get high from eating hot spice but I can get that from eating and enjoying normal hot food instead of gimmick hot.

I stop at extracts. I'm not interested in artificially boosted food. I want the heat to come from peppers using standard minimal processing, but I'll take that as hot as you can make it. Sweating, runny nose, and hiccups are all just fine. I love hot food, but it's hard to find unless I make it myself.

ok. I just had it. It's hot but not stupid hot. It's flavorful hot and extremely tasty. It really does taste like eating noodles dipped in hot roasted chicken sauce. It's probably the best tasting instant ramen I ate in a long time. It has addicting hot taste quality to it. I worked up light sweat but it was very nice spicy high. You can taste the heat when it hits your lips but if you avoid getting too much sauce on your outer lip, it's very comfortable. I would highly recommend this noodle and give it 9/10 rating in taste. If you like spicy food and ramen, you'll love this instant ramen. This is going in my permanent ramen rotation and will always have a place in my pantry.

Looking forward to trying it. I'm hoping Wegmans will have some. They have a pretty good variety of instant ramen, but barring that, I'll buy from Amazon.

Have you tried Shin Black? That's my favorite amongst the cheaper instant ramens.

It's worth locating and trying it. Now I'm curious how 2x and 4x taste. I might drive to Korean mart later tonight after the traffic dies down to pick up some more of the original long with the 2x and 4x.

Shin Black is ok but I prefer the regular Shin Ramyun. I don't really care for the fake bone broth taste in Shin Black. I'm pretty picky when it comes to bone broth soup taste since I make it regularly from scratch using beef knuckle marrow bone. But regular Shin Ramyun has been my favorite instant ramen for over a decade.
