Fire and Ice: The Winter War of Finland

I already knew about the 1939-40 winter war and how a far smaller force of Finns held off the Red Army with no tank support, minimal air support, and meager war supplies. The documetary tells about how the Finns coined the Molotov cocktail and invented other innovative ways to stop Russian tanks (including running up and jamminng logs in their treads). Also how a couple Finnish regiments on skis annihilated two entire Soviet divisons as they advanced.

If you get a chance to check it out, do so. Few people outside of Finland really have ever heard of it.

Hell, I thought this would be about George R.R. Martin's fantasy series. 🙁

I actually studied about this as part of working towards a minor in History. It's amazing that Stalin won any campaigns at all.
