I have FIOS Internet. LOVE IT!

Getting FIOS TV on Tuesday. I'll update later with results. I'll be switching from Cablevision.

UPDATE: Verizon Tech just left. Install was flawless. Video signal is really good and looks better than what I had with Cablevision. I'll post more later in the day, and provide some pics as requested. I am going to play around with the system a bit and then go out and do some stuff that I need to do today.

My trouble w/ FIOS.........(at least until cable goes all-digital & I'm in the same boat w/ them)...........

When I first heard of FIOS, I was soooooooo happy.

Well, now I'm not so sure.

Looks like the install's OK, minus the digging up of the yard (thought they seem to clean up well). But, of course they seem to wanna keep everything outside of the house & that starts w/ a 4 ft tall conduit pole coming up the side and then crammin' a line into the aluminum door of the old cable box.

Next..........while the VZ guy explained to me that they could KILL cable w/ their $12.95 analog package and I wouldn't have to use ANY stb's...........turns out those channels are waaaaaaaaay limited compared to cable.

W/ FIOS analog package there's no TLC, TNT, USA, TBS, etc. etc.

Top that off w/ the fact that then, the digital TV, PLUS all the stb's you need (I have 4 TV's in my house) and include that WITH the internet (with which they may or may not be able to do a clean install) and you're talkin' (or in my case.........AT LEAST no less than I pay for cable and possibly more. Sure I'd get more channels, and more upload bandwidth, but is it worth the hassle and am I really willing to pay more for it??

BTW, fiber optic is TWO words. Is should be FOS. Gawd damn acronyms. Retards at verizon are even trying to remove the acronym from usage since fios is gaelic for "knowledge" yet they spell it FiOS (note the use of caps, as is common for acronyms) for Fiber Optic Service. Gawd damn marketing. I hate this about as much as PHONEage being pronounces as PHONage.

Because i dont spend every waking moment wondering how i can get a bigger TV with a bigger, better, faster, signal? No thanks. On my list of priorities, TV is near the bottom. That should be obvious given that i know FIOS is already an acronym. IMT, WTF, AATS YASTUT NISM? Did you get that oh great TV/tech/acronym guru?

Keep yapping.

Just understand that acronyms permeate every field. Communications is one of the biggest ones.

PS - I don't spend every waking moment wondering how I can get a bigger TV, with a bigger, better, faster signal. I spend most of the day trying to figure out how to deliver that experience to everybody.

I put the link there for others so that they don't have to Google it. And thanks, my reading skills are fine. Jees, people love to bash here - it gets worse every year.
 
I got FIOS TV and internet back in November and I love it. I pay $10 less than I did with Comcast and the quality is noticeably better too.
 
Congrats! Though I'm not a huge Verizon fan, I hate Timewarner Cable even more and I'd love to switch.

Anyone have any idea when FIOS will be coming to Ohio?
