but it's fios! fios! fios is great! thank god for fios! down with the cable companies! We should be grateful to give them our money after they could no longer milk their customers for 50$ for a basic dial tone!

Yeah... didn't you hear? It's cool to hate on Verizon FIOS now because they throttle Netflix. Only Google Fiber deserves our admiration now... or at least until they get get caught doing some unethical data mining of their customers. Or, until they also get big enough to be able to screw over their customers as well without having to care about repercussions.

Unethical...

Optimum throttled "excessive users" back when there was no FIOS competition here. Then when I tried to work with them and followed their rules, they still capped me, at 18KBps - unusable. And they never admitted to capping users either. Then when FIOS arrived they stopped doing it. F U Optimum. F U very much. I went to Verizon DSL and put up with outages during rain before ever even considering Optimum again.

I pay about $160/month for Comcast triple play. Phone, Internet and TV. I am locked into a contract at the moment and wanted to ditch phone and go Ooma. When the contract is up I'm going Ooma. I do have a cell, but I like the landline as I can control who's calling me better than the cell. The cell is just private.

My Fios just went up again too. Twice in one year. From

$54.99 to $62.99 to $69.99

With just internet 15/15

Ugh... Verizon website initially said fios was available at my residence, but when I talked with someone on the phone about it they said it wasn't. =(

I guess I am stuck with Comcast. Suppose I might as well call them up and bitch about something.

Maybe you can bluff your way to a discount with Comcast by threatening to switch to the fios service that is supposedly available to you.

I am not particularly worried over price, it is the sporatic internet issues that cause me want to switch. I am fine with what I pay, if I received the service I paid for. The TV works, but my internet will require a modem reset at least once a day as speeds crawl. This is also the 3rd modem they've given me.

Have you ever had a tech check your drop for ingress? How old is your house? Or do you live in an old apartment? The drop was an issue with us, not so much the Internet, but some TV channels wouldn't even work nor music channels. We went through four dumb ass techs and finally one guy, a guy who wasn't even from the U.S did an ingress test on the drop with his meter and said you need a knew drop. Ran temp cable from the tap to the house and burried it latter that week and so far so good. But about once every month in the early morning hours at about 1 AM we lose either the Internet or TV. Sometimes it's Internet, TV and phone. I call Comcast and they have a prerecorded message stating there is an outage. Fucking sucks! I could never host a server on this shit. My sister and brother who live in the same town never seem to have the trouble.

This happens with every single company; Time Warner, AT&T, Verizon, etc. Just call them, threaten to cancel because of the new rate and they'll put you on whatever current promotion they have.

I wish there was more competition in this space.

I dropped my connection at home because my cable provider increased my bill by 35%. I asked if they could give me my old rate and was told I wasn't eligible because there were no promotions for existing customers...I told them to cancel service and they offered me the promotional rate again.... That's when I told them they were lying sacks of crap for telling me there were no promotions available and I had them cancel my service. That was Charter.
