I get 8 - 10 mbs down from Comcast here, but I pay more then $50 so the mid-level service looks good... not available for me yet though.

Geez, we pay $47 a month for 5000/384!

Just get the 30000 for $55! Very worth it if it's really that much! I wish they had FiOS in my city, but we have SBC 🙁

Is their anything about IPTV with the FIOS offers? I know that Verizon is trying to do it but it being held back by cable monopoly BS.... did you see anything?

I've been running FIOS 15mbps for almost a month now. It's fairly stable and generally it's difficult to max out the bandwidth on most servers.

Definitely good for Usenet and other high bandwidth servers but even then, most servers top out at around 1.5MBs/sec... that's friggin fast.

I think I need a system upgrade soon... this OC'ed Barton with only 512MB RAM is choking on that amount of bandwidth. I do have a fast SATA drive but my newsreader and firewall are eating a lot of CPU time as it downloads at full tilt. Doesn't sit too well with high rez video playback...

wonder what happened to archcommus and purbeast

guess they got pwned by me and ran away

🙂

keep the hate coming!

Lucky you, I pay 54.95 for 9mbit and I'm pretty happy with it, of course I can't wait for FIOS (~110 miles away heh)

I'm moving somewhere that already has FiOS installed (not on purpose, just happened to be installed, I'm not that much of a geek) and I'll likely get the base plan.

15mb, anything over that is a waste, even with multiple servers it would be hard to find enough BW to fill it

Hahaha, When I lived in the dorms I used to watch the schools bw graph go from ~15mbps to ~800mbps (gbit line) when I was multi-threading transfers.
