Fios 50/20 mbps real world speeds

I saw this in an ad and I was kinda turned on. My current internet is 7mbps dsl, there isn't much option here in Canada :/

I'm wondering, from anyone who has this service, what the actual d/l and u/l speeds are, particularly for torrents, and if there is throttling and d/l caps. I swear the day that these US companies come to Canada will be the day that Bell and Rogers either collectively commit suicide or are forced to stop being shitty companies.

For reference, my d/l speeds cap at about 730k/s, u/l ~40k/s, I have a cap that I always go over to the full extent and pay $30 extra, and am throttled to 30-100k/s until 2am. It's rough.

All I can tell you is on my 20/20 FIOS, not all sites and places I download from give me full speed, so I would imagine 50mb service would be the same. Your internet is only as fast as your slowest link. Reliability has been pretty good though and I don't have many complaints about the service itself.

Kevnich is right, Your only as fast as your slowest link.
I have a server in the colo at work that has got full 100mb/s it. Rarely do I see it download stuff over 30-40Mb/s
generally its about 28Mb/s

What about for torrents, for example from a high end private site where download speed is pretty much awesome. What is the fastest you've personally gotten with Fios?

My biggest concern with downloading is torrents which always max out my connection, unless of course its not 3 am and I'm being throttled. Thanks a lot Bell.

Not FIOS, but on a stand alone 100mbit connection, I regularly see 90+mbps. On HTTP/HTTPS or FTP, I normally see 30-50mbps max as as general rule.

HI
I have the verizon fios.
I am retired vz employee and have the 15 meg down and 2 meg up service that retirees get.
Below is a speed test that I ran. I am in the Pittsburgh Pa area.
The test is in Rochester NY. I ran the test at 3:45 pm.
The test is through my network wifi connection.

My results are always close to 15 mb at this site.
I assume this site doesn't get much traffic!!!!

When I go to other speed test sites the results are as low as 9 to 10 mb when I use a site in Los Angeles and downloads around maybe 10 meg when I use sites to New York and Atlanta.
