FIOS 3/1 plan - $19.99/mo for a year with home phone service

This must be targeted towards those on 1mbps DSL. First time I've seen a FiOS Internet plan slower than 15mbps.

FiOS customers with both TV and Internet service have been getting a 5mbps download boost for some time now (e.g. 15mbps becomes 20mbps) to accomodate Video on Demand services. That would make it a hot deal to get 8mbps for $19.99/mth. But if you did want TV service thru FiOS, it'd probably be cheaper to just bundle into a Triple Play package in which the Internet speed starts at 15mbps anyways.

Now if they can lower their best plan (150Mbps download and 35Mbps in my area) to 100 bucks a month (currently $195) I will jump 😛

I'm surprised fios isn't where I live. I live in West LA its very dense here. The planner doesn't even recognize my street.

15/2 from Comcast.

Original post = rip off.

Not exactly. The deal apparently includes landline phone too. For people who basically just check email and stuff, it's actually a good deal. (my parents)

Also Comcast has 250 GB bandwidth cap, sells your personal browsing habits and collections information, and sacrifices virgin blood whenever there's a full moon.

No, the price doesn't include landline phone service...the price is dependant on having landline phone service.

With Magicjack $20/year, and our watching patterns shifting more to netflix, I am starting to only want internet bandwidth and forget their phone and TV service.

FIOS can't come to my area fast enough.

Probably won't come at all. I pulled a Verizon guy aside who was working on phones lines and he said as far as he knew, Verizon had no plans to expand coverage due to costs.

From what i have heard if verzion hasn't announced it is covering your area it wont be coming period.

A town supervisor I know from a nearby town told me that it is the local towns that determine whether or not a service like FIOS can have access. In my town, they granted monopolies to the local phone company (Frontier) and the cable company (Time Warner).

I called the FCC and they told me that there is nothing an individual can do about it.
