FinFET's father forecasts future [EETimes]

Yeah, the amount of technologies and ideas is staggering.

On the transistor front: TFET (a few variants), QWFET, spintronics (many, many variants), CNTs, graphene and other 2D materials, vacuum transistor, GAA/nanowire (vertical or horizontal), III-V, quantum computer, optical interconnect.

On the lithography front: EUV, EBL (eBeam), DSA, nanoimprint.

Many ideas, but it's hard to get mature, since semiconductor companies want a linear roadmap where the next thing is better in all respects. Developing multiple ones is too costly, although the TFET might have a chance.

Good to see the development of new transistor types continue. Sooner or later the node game is over. And then the advancement to reduce power usage is this type of advancements.
