FinePix Z1 versus Canon SD450

She wants a pocket point and shoot.

It seems that the z1 has great low light and wide ISO range plus a very good price for a 5MP camera.
The only thing holding against it is the use of xD instead of SD card and no optical viewfinder.

Opinions and experiences?

- Thanks.

I have owned a Canon SD300 and it was a killer camera, you couldn't go wrong with an improved version. I just bought a Canon S3IS and love it.

Between those 2, I'd take the Canon.

I had an in-len camera like the Fuji and did not like it.
Had the Canon sd200 and loved it.
Plus the Canon has an AF-assist lamp and the Fuji does not.

How about the Pentax S6 ??
Smaller, 1 more MP, uses Divx movie recording and cheaper.

Both my mother and sister have the SD450 and love it. Neither are photographers or very technical, but find it easy to use and takes solid photos.

update: now she's looking into the credit-card sized Casio Exilim EX-S600.

the two features that's swaying us into this is 1) leading battery life - I think about 300 shots 2) snorkeling use - casio has the EWC-60 underwater case.

any exilim EX-s600 users out there? feedback appreciated.

Why arent you looking at the fuji Z2? the high ISO performance of the fuji cameras is unmatched by any other manufacturer.

Just curious how you like it as far as the AUTO mode, etc? You have any samples you could post online? I've seen all the major sites review it and seen their samples, just wnat to get your take on it.

Sorry to go a littel OT on your thread, PhoenixOrion. My wife owns a canon SD200 and it's a great camera. I recommended her friend get a 450 and she is very satisfied with it.

Yes, we looked at both finepiz z1 and z2. No doubt they have the best range of iso sensitivities.

My wife is wanting the requirement to take the credit-card sized digicam to rough outings, ie snorkeling, hiking, etc and it seems that z1 and z2 don't have any compatible hard-cases for rugged/waterproof use.
