In the book that came with this mobo, it told me to look in: D:\Other\ite_raid\drivers\ for the gigaradi ata raid controller drivers.

Is there anywhere else I can find these drivers and why has Microsoft not taken it upon themselves to fix this nuisance?

Yes there is, however you didn`t post your motherboard brand & model,so I can`t direct you to the right site for the correct drivers .

run the exe, it will create two folders, pick the relevant one, then copy that over, either should fit.

under the link mem posted there is "ITE ide gigraid driver" or the silicon image sata raid. I would assume one of those is what your are looking for, both are exe's, both extract to folders. Under the ITE all you need ot copy would be with win2k/xp folder which is 33k, the sata one forms two folders, 1 for raid 1 for not raid, copy the appropriate one.

ITE would be used if you are running a pata raid
the silicone image would be used if you are running sata raid

I did actually run those and had the files extracted to my computer files. I have already attempted the download of the win xp part to the floppy and used it on the new system to no avail.
