Finding old bookmarks

After unexpectedly reinstalling the OS without a backup, one of the items to recover is Chrome bookmarks.

Currently I'm running Chrome with no bookmarks. Where would I look for the old ones?

The two options would be that most if not all of my files on the boot SSD seemed to be backed up in a subdirectory on it.

The other is that the data drive wasn't affected (other than the shop reversing D: and E: for HD and optical, which I need to reverse).

Another reason to sync your bookmarks to your google account so you don't lose them. This link shows where chrome places the local bookmarks. I sync all of my browsers so bookmarks come right back after a clean install.😀

If the whole user folder was backed up you should be able to copy the Chrome profile from
-- Backup\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\
Just copy that folder to the Username\Appdata\Local\Google\Chrome and it should restore your bookmarks

As for the drive letters. That's easy to change in disk management, just right click the optical drive, and select change drive letter put it to something other, do the same for on the hard drive partition, set it to the correct letter, and do the same again on the optical to set it back to the correct. ( need to free up the letter first)

Thanks. But for the drives, wouldn't it make sense to just swap the cables, since I assume that's how they got reversed by the shop?

You could do that as well, but this way you don't have to worry about the cables. although it should not be that hard, just put the hdd on a lower # sata port vs the optical drive
