I'm gonna print out the above attachment and go to my local block buster after class. I'll let you know what happens because technically the deal does act like a expiration date. Your free rental expired at the end of the week and so it's illegal.

They gave me the big nu-uh. I think it was more out of ignorance. They advised they will comply if I get direct authorization from corporate so I'm gonna do that now. Haha, normally I'm not that big of an ass but if crazy laws like these get passed, I may as well abuse them to show people that it really WAS a crazy law afterall.

Don't take that B.S. I sure didn't... what city are you in... I was speaking with my attorney and we were thinking of extending our civil suit into a class action. Blockbuster is up to no good so don't let them trample on your rights, this is yet another example of big business thinking they got power over law. FIGHT THE POWER!

Haha... very ironically, I'm in the most liberal place on the planet. Berkeley.

Haha... very ironically, I'm in the most liberal place on the planet. Berkeley.

Before the Blockbuster on Durant/Telegraph closed, I used that Free Rental thing a few times... no hassles encountered. I assume you're talking about the BB over down on Shattuck?

For $29.99 you get Finding Nemo on DVD or VHS and 7 movie rentals, one movie per week for 7 weeks... (Miss a week, miss a rental)

Don't forget to add the "late fee" if you forget to return the DVD/s on time. You have to pay up, they won't "deduct" from the number of movies you have on your card.

I just spoke with a clerk at a Spokane, WA, BB and she also said if you miss a week, you lose it. I do not know if Washington State has a law like the one CA does that other people have talked about in this thread. Either way, it seems a little cheap for BB to do it that way. I have not decided if I am jumping on this deal yet.

lol... yeah. I did find out that the Tower Records on Durant offers really cheap videos/dvds. I think it was like $1.50 for a 3 day rental. And plus it's a helluva lot closer than the Shattuck place.

BB also has a new promotion Pirates of the Caribbean plus 7 rentals for the same price....Was ask'd if I wanted to do that one tonight when using my Nemo card

This deal is for Full Screen only (in my area). Blech.

I've read somewhere that the FS or WS decision comes down to the owner/management of each store. As my luck would have it my local BB is not WS-friendly. 🙁

If you work out 7 rentals (at $4.27 per rental), $29.89, your getting finding nemo for $0.10 😀

For the Portland, Oregon BB's I believe it's $2.99 per new rental x 7 = $21 = $29.99

Still a bargain at only $8.99

ALERT!! to all who live in CA. I did this deal for The Two Towers and when I went to rent a movie last week I was told I that the weeks I skipped I lost!! So double check with your Blockbuster that if this is the case in CA too!

This is b.s. First, check the back of your card. Since I did not participate in the Two Towers promo, I don't know if there is any language printed on the back of the card, but in the terms it should say something to the effect of "terms applicable except where prohibited by law." Then, print a copy of this:

link

Take it to the Blockbuster and tell them "YOUR WRONG!"

Short version: if after pointing out the above, they still don't allow you use them, tell the manager you are going to report this to the local City Attorney's office.

The cali blockbusters know they are wrong on this... I did the 2 towers deal w/ the 7 rentals in LA and they did not enforce the 1 rental/week stipulation... HOWEVER, 3 months after I purchased the two towers, I had only used 5 rentals and the other 2 freebies went away!! I complained and the manager said I was lucky to get 5 in the first place! So, bottom line, even if blockbuster in SoCal tells you that you have 7 rentals w/o expiration, keep a close watch or they'll screw you.

You may want to double check on price.....locally it is only $26.99, that reminds me i gotta go pick up my copy tomorrow.
