Because the fan base of The Matrix is primarily people are have an advanced knowlege of computers and the internet. They know how and where to download movies whereas most people do not or don't have the patience to download a 1GB+ file...

that would be even more reason for matrix to be LESS susceptible to the "download effect". if this movie is catered to the "comptuer geek" crowd, like you say it is - do you think that they would really cheat themselves from watching a movie targeted specificially to them in the theater? of course not. these geeks, though, won't really want to get off their comfy chairs to go watch spiderman - so they'll jus get it off irc.

Exactly. The only people that are downloading movies are downloading because it's not worth their time or ticket price to go see the movie in the theatres. Any fan isn't going to see Reloaded for the first time on a sh1tty telesync download, they're going to see it in the theatres.

What about the people who saw it in the theater and downloaded it. They are still losing revenue because instead of going to the theater to see it a second time, you're just going to watch your downloaded copy.

Look at all the sides, not just one.

people who see it once don't necessarily want to see it again enough to shell out another $10... the downloaded version is just a convenience till the DVD comes out.

hey look i'm sort of arguing with myself :)

seriously though, why does anyone care about box office revenues? are you making a profit off the movie? why the pissing contest?

I saw Reloaded the day it came out and with Anand last week and both times it was very entertaining, worth the $15 total. Finding Nemo was an awesome movie though, the animation was easily the best out of Pixar I've seen. If I had to pick a Pixar movie though, it'd still be Toy Story. :)

Btw, Reloaded has still made $33 million more than X-Men, which has been out for two weeks longer. :p AND Reloaded did make $45 million + its second weekend in release.

It's allright, finding Nemo hit jackpot cuz it's been awhile since the last good family/kids movies out. WB will never lose with Matrix, they're making money and money and money.

Eh to anyone that thinks all the geeks are DLing and not going to the theatres, I disagree. I did download it, but didn't even watch it yet. I've already seen it at the theatre twice.

Crap == nothing new what we didn't have already in 1999 !!! Why should i want to see Matrix Reloaded ??? Because of the Hype ??? NOOOO !

A movie with some action scenes in slowmotion and a stupid plot can NOT draw me in the theatre - and in 1999 the Matrix was innovative, great, a killer movie...and TODAY 'Reloaded' is only a lame sequel without anything new !!!!!!! I've seen enough "Matrix type' slow motion action sequences already...so...why should i want to see "Reloaded" ?

BTW...saw 'Finding Nemo' today - a cute movie, Kudos to Pixar !!!!!! These guys know how to entertain, nice story, stunning colorful gfx etc....highly recommended...nice !!!!!

and reloaded needed a lot of thinking, which was why a lot of people didnt like it. i'm sure nemo is a good movie, but its got to be easier to understand by far if little kids are going to watch it.

Oh yeah, it takes a lot of thinking to see things explode and watch people shoot each other =/

No it takes some thinking to understand some of the characters and what they are and do. If all you saw were people shooting each other and blowing stuff up then you didn't try to understand it and got out of it exactly what you were trying to get out of it: a movie with people shooting each other and stuff blowing up.

I take it you're one of the ones that didn't understand the movie...

Some people got more out of it than that.
